What is your mafia nickname?
Needles.
What is your craft?
One of a kind hand made dog sweaters.
Why do you do your craft?
Because every time I see a dog on the street, I have
a desire to see it wearing a sweater. It's also an outlet
for me wanting to make things for my dog. Her sweater
wardrobe exceeds mine, in quantity, and quality.
What are your sources of inspiration?
My dogs, past and present. Interesting color combinations,
and the feel and smell of wool, and other animal fibers
also inspire me.
What is your favorite Chicago
haunt?
The Lucky Penny headquarters, which is an apartment
that I share with a silly man, and my adorable dog,
Piccolo.
What is your favorite beverage?
Alcoholic, a margarita, rocks, with salt. Non-alcoholic,
a can of Coke poured over a giant glass of ice cubes.
It's a beverage and frozen dessert in one.
Where do you buy your favorite beverage?
Since I spend lots of time at home, the pharmacy down
the block.
How did you come up with your business name?
My second dog was named Penny.
What is it's significance?
I wanted the name to be a legacy to my pet. Which is
also why I've named some dog sweater patterns (in my
soon to be published book) after my pets, or other memorable
dogs I have known.
What is your weapon of choice?
Addi Turbo needles, usually 4 mm.
What would you be doing otherwise?
Designing costumes for stage and screen. I studied it
in college, but never pursued it afterwards.
Do you have any advice for other crafters?
Persevere, but be realistic about the rest of your life.
