chainmaille (mostly jewelry but also sculpture and accessories)
Why do you do your craft?
Because I'm addicted. Um, I mean, because it is fun,
and extremely
gratifying to create something with my own two hands.
What are your sources of inspiration?
geometry, fractals, high fashion

haunt?
anyplace with good sushi.

Water
Where do you buy your favorite beverage?
The tap, baby!!!
How did you come up with your business name?
bluebuddha was an online name of mine for awhile, and
I like alteration a lot. So, Blue Buddha Boutique seemed
like a natural
choice. I wanted to stay away from something with Jewelry
in the name, because I knew I would be branching out
and doing non-jewelry
work. I didn't want maille in the name either, because
I wanted to leave myself open to doing metalsmithing
or beadwork. As it turned out, though, I fell in love
with chainmaille and carved out a niche in that field.
What is it's significance?
I had a blue glass vase that was sort of bulbous. A
friend of mine looked over at it and commented, "That
looks like a blue Buddha
sitting over there." I loved the way it rolled
off the tongue (a fan of alliteration, like I said)
so I decided to use it as an online name. I wasn't a
Buddhist at the time, but I later became one.
What is your weapon of choice?
my mind
What would you be doing otherwise?
nonprofit public relations and development, or teaching
English in a
foreign country
Do you have any advice for other crafters?
As
Harold Thurman Whitman said, "Don't ask yourself
what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come
alive and then go and do that. Because what the world
needs is people who have come alive."
